I have been trying to obtain shapefiles of the mining concessions to use in conservation planning in Western Tanzania (part of the Albertine Rift region) – basically looking at where you need to conserve outside protected areas and avoiding mining concessions. I have mining maps from Uganda, Rwanda, DRC but Tanzania is the big hole in the rift. The concessions have been mapped but when I write to the office in Dar I fail to get any response. Our office in Tanzania also tried to find the office responsible and failed.
